Kama Chinen
was a Japanese supercentenarian, who, at the age of 114 years 124 days,〔(Validated living supercentenarians ) The Gerontology Research Group, that specialises in lists of persons as 'living' whose age has been validated and confirmed to be alive within the past year.〕 became the oldest validated living person when American supercentenarian Gertrude Baines (born 6 April 1894) died on 11 September 2009. She died on 2 May 2010, eight days before her 115th birthday. At the time of her death, she was the 26th oldest verified person ever, the second oldest verified Japanese person ever and the oldest verified person ever from Okinawa. ==Health status== In September 2008, Chinen was reported to be in a wheelchair: "Though her daily activities required assistance, she enjoyed going outside in a wheelchair with a nurse," the ministry said.〔"Japan's Centenarians at Record High of 36,276".
